Premium Snapchat, Snapchat premium, premium Snap: the searches are a leftover from the years before creator platforms, when a private Snapchat and a payment app were the whole business. The model has not disappeared, which is why this page exists: to explain what it is and why the people still selling it are carrying all the risk the newer platforms removed.
What premium Snapchat is.
A premium Snapchat is an ordinary Snapchat account set to friends only, into which a creator lets the people who have paid. The content is posted to the story or sent directly, and disappears the way Snapchat content does. Payment never happens inside Snapchat; it is collected by payment app, by a link page, or increasingly by a subscription platform, with the Snapchat access sold as an extra. There is no premium feature in the app. The word describes a practice, not a product, and Snap has never offered or endorsed it.
Snapchat+, the official premium.
Most people who search for premium Snapchat today mean Snapchat+, often written Snapchat Plus: Snap's own paid subscription for users, which has nothing to do with adult content. Snap's Snapchat+ page describes it as exclusive, experimental and pre release features, and lists what subscribers get.
| Snapchat+ feature | What it does, per Snap's page |
|---|---|
| Custom app icon | Pick an app icon from a library that keeps growing |
| Snapchat+ badge | A badge next to your name on your profile |
| #1 Best Friend | Pin one friend as your number one best friend |
| Customize your app | Chat wallpapers, Bitmoji backgrounds, custom notification sounds and more |
| Early access | Try new Snapchat features before other users |
| Story insights and Boost | See how often friends watch your Stories and boost them for more views |
The price is shown in the app and varies by country and plan, so it is not quoted here. Snap has also used Snapchat+ to give subscribers features before everyone else; Wikipedia's article on Snapchat records that its My AI chatbot was first offered to Snapchat+ users in February 2023. In February 2026, the same article records, Snapchat introduced creator subscriptions that let eligible creators earn revenue from followers inside the app.
- Snapchat+ is for users. A subscription that changes how your own app looks and works.
- Creator subscriptions are for creators. A way for eligible creators to be paid by followers, under Snap's guidelines.
- Premium Snapchat, the old practice, is neither. A private account sold outside the app, against Snap's rules, as the rest of this page explains.
Snapchat+ plans and every feature.
Snap's support pages, read on October 2, 2026, describe Snapchat+ as premium exclusive, experimental and pre release features, available as a monthly or yearly individual subscription, with upgrades to other plans that may not be available in every region. The price is not published as one number: Snap says pricing may vary by country and device, that the price shown on your device is the price you are charged, and that the current price is under Settings, then Snapchat+.
| Plan | What it adds, per Snap's support pages |
|---|---|
| Snapchat+ | The 40 plus exclusive features, monthly or yearly |
| Family Plan | The subscriber can add 2 more people; each member gets Snapchat+ features and 250GB of Memories storage. The only plan that allows adding others |
| Lens+ | Snapchat+ features plus exclusive Lenses and AI features |
| Platinum | Snapchat+ with no Sponsored Snaps and no Story or Lens ads, the Lens+ plan included, and 5TB of Memories storage |
The feature list on Snap's own page is long, and grouping it shows what the subscription is really for: friends, chats, stories and making the app your own.
| Area | Snapchat+ features, as Snap lists them |
|---|---|
| Friends | #1 Best Friend, Extended Best Friends List, Friends in Chat, Solar System, Snapscore Multiplier |
| Chats and Snaps | Chat Wallpapers, Generative Chat Wallpapers, Custom Chat Colors, Peek a Peek, Lightning Snaps, Replay Again, Replay Your Own Snaps |

| Streaks | Instant Streaks, Streak Restore |

| Gifting | Gift Snapchat+ to another user; promo codes as a way to sign up |
- Billing runs through the app stores. Snap's page says to view billing history or cancel in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, under active subscriptions.
- Platinum does not remove every ad. Snap notes you may still see sponsored places and My AI responses.
- Switching plans affects family members. Moving from a Family Plan to another plan removes access for the people you added.
- Features are available in the app, not on the web. Snap keeps a separate list of what the web version supports.
None of these features has anything to do with selling content, and none makes a private account into a paid one. For users, Snapchat+ is an option for more control over how the app looks and how friends and stories work. For creators, the paid side of Snapchat is the creator subscriptions described above, under Snap's guidelines.
Is Snapchat+ worth it?
For many users the free version of Snapchat is all they need, and the additional features of a paid plan are a matter of taste. Snapchat+ is worth it for a user who spends a lot of time in the app with a close set of friends and wants more options to customize it: the friend features, the story insights and the early access are the parts people use most. It is not worth it for a user who opens the app a few times a month, and it changes nothing about privacy, safety or what other users can see beyond the features Snap lists. Check the price shown in Settings under Snapchat+ before deciding, since it is set by country and device rather than published as one number, and remember that cancelling is done in the app store, not in Snapchat.
For creators the question is different. Snapchat+ is a user subscription and does not help anyone sell content; Snap's creator subscriptions are the paid option for eligible creators, inside the app and its guidelines. A creator using Snapchat as one social media channel among many gets more from a public profile, regular stories and a link to their page than from any paid plan.
What Snapchat's rules say.
Snap's community guidelines, read on October 2, 2026, prohibit promoting, distributing or sharing pornographic content, prohibit sharing intimate imagery of others without consent and sextortion, and state that Snap also prohibits sexual harassment and commercial activities that relate to pornography or sexual interactions, online or offline. The same guidelines say depictions of nudity in non sexual contexts are generally permitted. Read together, that is a prohibition of the premium Snapchat model itself: not only explicit content, but selling access to sexual content through the app. An account doing it is in breach whether or not it has been caught.
Why it fails creators.
- The account can go at any time. A breach of the guidelines is grounds for removal, and with it the paying audience, the content history and the handle.
- No payment protection. Money collected by payment app can be reversed and has no record of what it was for. Payment apps' own terms often exclude adult sales.
- No age verification of the buyer. Snapchat does not verify that the person paying is an adult. Sending explicit content to a minor is a serious crime regardless of what they said.
- Content is copied anyway. Disappearing content is screenshotted and screen recorded, and there is no copyright structure or takedown route attached to the sale.
- No legal frame. Creator platforms require verification, consent records and age checks, which is what lets them process card payments for adult content. A private Snap has none of it.
Why creators moved.
Subscription platforms took the premium Snapchat market by solving its problems rather than by being better at Snapchat. OnlyFans' terms require creator verification with a government ID, make the platform the merchant so the fan never sees the creator's details and the creator never sees the fan's card, require fans to be adults, and give the creator copyright with a right to have infringements reported. The content does not disappear, it is sold again to each new subscriber, and the platform keeps 20 percent for all of it. Fansly offers a similar structure with discovery inside the platform. The platforms comparison sets them side by side, and the what is OnlyFans guide explains the model from the start.
Compared with Instagram, Snapchat has a smaller role in most creators' promotion. Instagram is where the persona's public face lives and where the profile link is seen most; Snapchat stories and Spotlight add reach among an audience that uses the app daily and rarely sees adult promotion there. Creators who use both post the same non explicit content to each, keep the link in the public profile of both, and track which one the followers who become subscribers came from. Creating a separate persona account on each, with the same name and look, is the standard setup, and the content strategy is the same as on every public platform: post often, stay inside the guidelines, make the link easy to find, and add nothing explicit.
How Snapchat is used now.
Snapchat remains useful to creators in one way that is inside its rules: as a promotion channel. A public story with non sexual content, a persona, and a link out to the creator's page uses Snapchat for what it is good at, reach among a young adult audience, and keeps the sale where the structure is. The rules still apply to what is posted: non sexual content is permitted and sexual commerce is not, so the story is a trailer, not a shop. The promotion guide covers how channels are tracked so a creator knows whether Snapchat sends subscribers, and the TikTok guide covers the same approach on the other short form app.
Using Snapchat to promote an OnlyFans page.
The version of Snapchat that works for a creator is public and inside the rules. Create a public profile under the persona, post to stories and to Spotlight with content that is not sexual, the kind that would pass on Instagram, and put a link page in the profile rather than a direct link to an adult page, since Snap's guidelines prohibit sexual commerce on the app. Followers who want more follow the link. Treat it as one channel in a promotion strategy, not as the strategy: post on a schedule, track the link so you can see whether Snapchat followers become subscribers, and compare it with the other channels. Expect Snapchat to send fewer subscribers than Reddit or X, and measure it rather than assume it; the story format builds familiarity, which shows in retention rather than volume. Add it after the main channels are running, not before. The promotion guide covers the order and the tracking, and the followers guide covers turning followers on any public platform into subscribers.
For fans: what you are buying.
A fan paying for a premium Snapchat is paying through an app that offers no refund route for this, for access that can vanish with the account, from a seller nobody has verified, and often to an impostor using a real creator's photos. If the same creator has a page on a subscription platform, that is where the content is safer to buy: the payment has a record, the creator is verified, and the payment guide explains what appears on a statement. The guide to finding someone covers how to reach a real page rather than a copy.
Snapchat's rules are from Snap's Community Guidelines, read October 2, 2026. OnlyFans' verification, merchant, age, copyright and fee terms are from its Terms of Service. The description of the premium Snapchat practice is general; no seller, price or payment app is named or tested.
